There are so many things I'm doing now to heal my cancer. I want to share the full list so that you can see how many things are available to heal cancer, and how much time and effort it takes to truly go after cancer holistically.
This long list is the result of input from all members of my care team. I keep them all informed of the whole regime so there are no accidental interactions, but I make the decisions about what I take.
I've had some pushback from my medical oncologist about some of this, but ultimately they have respected my right to make my own medical decisions.
1) Standard of care - this is the western medical side of things. My care plan starts with chemotherapy and immunotherapy. The regime for my type of breast cancer (hormone negative, Her2 positive, stage 3) is Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin, Perjeta. 6 rounds over 18 weeks. After that they want me to have surgery, and then radiation. I have not decided about those next two steps yet. I would also continue the Herceptin and Perjeta for 8 more months, if I stick with their plan.
2) Integrative infusions - I get Mistletoe and high dose Vitamin C + Artesunate IVs every day that I'm able to between chemo treatments. I alternate between those two every other day. These drive the majority of the cost of my care, which I'll talk more about in a future email.
3) Repurposed drugs - This just means using pharmaceuticals for a purpose different than their standard one. There are several drugs that have been shown to have anti-cancer properties, whose primary purpose is something else. I am taking:
- Atorvastatin - this is a cholesterol medicine that also inhibits cancer cell growth and proliferation.
- Celebrex - this is an arthritis medication (anti-inflammatory) that has been shown to decrease the spread and growth of cancer cells.
- Doxycycline - this is an antibiotic that puts metabolic stress on cancer cells and makes them more susceptible to chemotherapy and other toxic agents.
- Low Dose Naltrexone - I was on this prior to cancer for my autoimmune condition. It is anti-inflammatory and also promotes immune system activity and inhibits cancer cell growth.
- Metformin - this is a diabetes medicine that also inhibits cancer cell growth by lowering circulating blood sugar and insulin (both of which feed cancer).
- Ivermectin - this is an anti-parasitic drug that also inhibits cancer growth by blocking signaling pathways.
4) Supplements
- Cistus Incanus - Anti-bacterial and anti-viral. Anti-inflammatory.
- Molybdenum - Support detox pathways.
- Neem organic India - Support immune system and detox pathways.
- Milk Thistle - Blunt tumor resistance.
- Immunobel-pro - Maintain healthy white blood cell and platelet counts.
- Reacted zinc - Boosts immune function, supports healthy tissue & increases antioxidant reserves.
- Reacted magnesium - Maintain electrolytes, cardiovascular support, energy production.
- Selenium - Regulate immune system, assist in fighting cancer.
- UltraCur Pro - Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.
- Quercetin - Maintains mast cell function and degranulation. Maintains histamine release and degranulation. Supports cellular, immune and cardiometabolic health. Potent antioxidant protection.
- L-Theanine - Promotes relaxation, helps with stress.
- Fish oil - Promotes blood flow to brain, supports the heart, skin, joints, eyes and immune system.
- immunoReboot - Significantly improves the effectiveness of carboplatin, increases natural killer cell, neutrophils, and macrophage activities suppressed by chemo.
- Beta Glucan - Decrease fatigue caused by impaired immune function or physical/emotional stress. Regulate blood glucose levels.
- Orthospore IG - Support healthy microbiome.
- Methylguard plus - Support methylation pathways.
- Chlorella - Binder to support detox.
- GI Detox - Stronger binder to support detox.
- Vitamin D+K - Maintain healthy vitamin D levels.
- Iron SAP - Maintain iron levels (this is a low dose because iron can feed cancer, but some of the meds I take can lead to anemia, so it's a balancing act).
5) Supportive activities
- Red light therapy - daily. Full body and also on my belly/bowels as much as possible.
- Vibration plate - daily
- Lymphatic massage/drainage - daily
- Detox bath - daily
- Exercise - 30-90min daily when I am able. Currently doing Barre3 and walking as my main activities.
- Oil pulling - occasionally (right now like once every other week)
- Castor oil packs on liver - daily
- Acupuncture - during chemo and other infusions
Choices I made and things I learned at this stage |
|
1) There are soooooo many things you can do to support your cancer journey, this list is what I am able to do on a daily basis while still leading my life. You have to pick and choose the things that resonate with you and feel ok in your body, and it's not easy!
2) There are some detox activities I do regularly that I can't do during treatment, like coffee enemas and saunas. They are either too strong for my body right now or in the case of the sauna, it would make the sauna toxic for other people to use. ☠️
